A million dollar success story

The story is about a Gamila Hiar, a small poor uneducated girl who made soaps in her basement to support her family. She knew the ancient art of making soap from wild herbs and olive oil which had special restorative properties. Gamila was about 60 years when she met Stef Wertheimer, an Israeli Industrialist and founder of Tefen Industrial Park, an enterprise established to encourage entrepreneurship in Israel’s most undeveloped and low-income regions. Today Gamila occupies a 12,916-square-foot facility within Tefen’s 30-acre campus and produces some 15,000 bars of soap a day. The company generates roughly $8.4 million in sales in 20 countries including Japan, Germany, and Britain. She expects sales to triple by 2009 and is looking to begin distribution in the U.S. Read the full success story here
